Sunoco’s new sustainable fuel

In this final qualifying session on the Donington Park GP circuit, Paul Fullick and James Whitley, driving the Team BRIT McLaren 570S GT4, secured pole position ahead of favourites Erceg and Clutton, in the Audi GT3. This car opted for the use of sustainable fuels during this session, supplied by Sunoco – with a 50 litre tank driving them to the front row.

With conditions damp and drying, due to a previous stint of rain earlier in the day, much of the field opted for wet tyres, with the Audi of Erceg and Clutton setting the fastest lap times for much of the session. They were followed closely throughout the 10 minutes by the McLaren of Naran and Jackson, which replaced the Mercedes AMG GT4 that had to be swapped out at short notice. Track limits around this circuit proved to be an issue however, with numerous teams including the aforementioned pair, suffering due to track limit violations.

Fullick and Whitley struggled initially in the short session, with their choice of slick tyres proving to be a
difficult one, however as the dry line began to emerge later, the tyres “came to life”, according to Fullick,
with Whitley setting the fastest time of the session on his final lap, securing their position at the front of the
grid.
